FoxHUNTER: drone detection for encrypted drones

Completely Protocol-agnostic – No pre-trained signal libraries required. Detects both encrypted and frequency-hopping drones.

What is the FoxHUNTER?

The TrackDeep FoxHUNTER is a next-generation RF geolocation sensor system that detects and pinpoints the location of any radio frequency emitter – including encrypted and non-compliant drones. Using Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) multilateration, FoxHUNTER provides precise 2D or 3D positioning with up to 10–15 m accuracy across 200–450 km² coverage.

Unlike traditional fingerprint-based solutions, FoxHUNTER is protocol-agnostic – if a device transmits, it can be located. By analyzing movement trajectories, the system distinguishes between drones, stationary emitters, and ground-based sources.

FoxHUNTER is designed for counter-UAS integrators, security providers, and defense operators who require large-area coverage and reliable detection of advanced drone threats, including those using OcuSync 4 and other encrypted links.

Key Features

  • Encrypted Drone Detection
Locates encrypted and non-cooperative drones, including DJI OcuSync 4.
  • High-Precision Geolocation
Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) multilateration delivers 2D/3D positioning with 10–15 m accuracy across 200–450 km².
  • Trajectory-Based Classification
Identifies drones by their movement patterns and separates them from ground or stationary emitters.
  • Protocol-Agnostic & Future-Proof
Covers multiple frequency bands – WiFi today, expanding to 600–8000 MHz – without relying on signal libraries.
  • Large-Area Coverage
Deploy a scalable sensor network for city-wide or border-wide monitoring.
  • Seamless Integration
Supports MQTT & API for cloud or on-premises deployment, compatible with TrackDeep and third-party C2 platforms.
  • Rugged & Reliable
Built for harsh environments: IP67-rated, operating range –30°C to +50°C, PoE or internal power.

Deployment Options

  • Standalone Hardware
Core sensor kit (3 or 4 nodes) with 4x 90° directional antennas per sensor, designed for direct integration into existing C2 or analytics platforms.
  • Cloud-Enabled Package
Includes a 1-year license for real-time cloud analytics, geolocation visualization, and historical data logging. Provides flexible connectivity via Ethernet or wireless backhaul.
  • LTE-Connected Solution
Delivered with an integrated LTE modem, antenna, and SIM slot for wireless operation in remote areas. Can also be combined with Starlink or, in extreme environments, optical fiber uplinks for maximum reliability.

Use Cases

Integration with Existing Systems

Acts as a strong complement to radars, optical/thermal cameras, and acoustic sensors by validating detections with precise RF geolocation.

Enhances Remote ID sensors (such as TrackDeep Observer) by adding the ability to detect encrypted and non-cooperative drones.

Replacement of Limitations in Other Technologies

Angle of Arrival (AoA) sensors → FoxHUNTER provides more accurate positioning and altitude data (true 3D) where AoA is unreliable.

Fingerprint/Library-based RF systems → FoxHUNTER is protocol-agnostic and independent of pre-trained signal libraries, staying effective against new or modified threats.

Short-range RF detectors → FoxHUNTER covers 200–450 km² per network, reducing the need for dense deployments of small-range receivers.

Standalone Capability

Serves as the primary RF geolocation layer in environments where radar or optical sensors underperform (e.g., GPS-jammed areas, poor visibility, or night operations).
